Currency signs are among the best-supported characters in Unicode because they are load-bearing text in the countries that use them — € £ ¥ are as dependable as the dollar sign. The newer signs like ₹ (2010) and ₿ (2017) are universal on current devices but can box on very old phones. If you write prices for an international audience, the sign matters more than the code: '€10' reads instantly in a way 'EUR 10' does not.

- Is it better to write $ or USD?
