Text fonts

Strictly speaking, nothing here changes your font — the font is whatever the app or website you paste into decides to use. What changes is which Unicode characters your text is made of, and those characters happen to be drawn in different styles. Understanding that distinction explains why the same text can look slightly different on iOS, Android and desktop.

Where people use it

  • Comparing styles before committing to one
  • Finding a legible style for a long bio
  • Testing how a name reads in several alphabets
  • Picking a consistent look across your profiles

Frequently asked questions

Is this really changing the font?
No. It substitutes characters that are drawn in a different style. The actual font is controlled by the app you paste into.
Why does the same style look different on my laptop?
Each operating system supplies its own glyphs for these Unicode blocks, so weights and shapes vary.
Which style is the most reliable?
Bold, italic and small caps render almost everywhere. Filled bubbles and rarer decorative blocks are the most likely to fail.
