Lenny face
Lenny appeared on a Finnish imageboard in 2012 and spread worldwide within days, precisely because nobody could figure out how to type it. The answer: the eyes are degree signs, the mouth is an IPA letter (ʖ, a click consonant), and the smirk is a Turkish diacritic. Each variant below changes the eyes or mouth while keeping the unmistakable silhouette. Because it is plain text, Lenny survives in any chat, comment or bio field — no emoji keyboard required.
Where people use it

- Bio jokes for people who recognize it
